Frequently asked questions

What guests ask us most

If your question is not here, message us on WhatsApp: we reply within minutes.

Is there really electricity during blackouts?

Yes. The house has a photovoltaic system with solar panels on the roof and a bank of backup batteries. When the grid fails — common in Cuba — the lighting, fans, air conditioning and room sockets keep working, at night too.

It is the main reason many guests choose us, and what they appreciate most on arrival.

How can I pay? Do you accept cards?

Payment is made on arrival, in cash. We accept Cuban pesos (CUP), US dollars and euros.

Important: international cards (Visa, Mastercard) barely work in Cuba, and ATMs fail often. We recommend bringing cash in notes. Euro notes usually get a better rate than dollars in the private sector.

We also accept cryptocurrency if you let us know before arriving.

What does the room price include?

The rate includes the room with private bathroom, bed linen and towels, daily cleaning, hot water, air conditioning, fan, fridge, WiFi in the common areas and use of the patio and corridor.

Paid separately, only if you use them: breakfast (USD 5 per person per day), guarded parking (USD 2 per night) and the supplement for a third guest (USD 8 per night).

What is the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 7 days before arrival. Between 7 and 3 days before, 50% of the first night is charged, and less than 72 hours before, the full first night is charged.

Bookings made through Airbnb are governed by that platform's conditions.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out before 11:00. If you arrive earlier or your flight leaves in the afternoon, you can leave your luggage at the house at no cost and enjoy the city in the meantime.

Can both rooms be booked together?

Yes. The two rooms hold up to six people and can be booked together for families or groups of friends. Message us on WhatsApp or use the contact form and we will give you a combined price.

Is there WiFi? Does it work well?

Yes, there is WiFi in the common areas. Bear in mind that connectivity in Cuba is slow and shared: it works well for messaging, email and looking things up, and less well for video or long video calls.

If you need mobile data, Cuba sells the tourist line Cubacel Tur, bought online with your passport.

Can I drink tap water?

No. Tap water is not drinkable in Cuba. At the house we provide filtered water, and out and about you should always drink bottled water and avoid ice not made from bottled water.

Do I need a plug adapter?

It depends where you come from. Cuba uses 110-120 V with type A and B sockets (flat US pins). If you come from Europe you will need an adapter; we have some to lend at the house.

Check that your chargers accept 100-240 V: most phones, laptops and cameras do.

Do you arrange transfers and tours?

Yes. We arrange transfers to the airport, the cays, Havana, Trinidad or anywhere in the country with trusted drivers, and we help you plan day trips.

Write to us with the number of people and your dates and we will give you a price.

Are pets allowed?

No, we do not accept pets.

Is there parking?

Yes, we have a space in a guarded car park about 100 metres from the house, for USD 2 per night. You can also park on the street, but we recommend the car park for safety.
